Qld: 63 arrested in police sting
More than 60 people have been arrested on more than 600 offences in an operation targeting
property-related crime in Rockhampton.
One of the 63 people arrested during the month-long Operation Orpheus has been charged
with 97 counts of break and enter.
Police recovered more than $180,000 worth of suspected stolen property, including cars,
jewellery and household items.
The 626 offences included break and enter, stealing, receiving stolen property, unlawful
use of a motor vehicle, assault and drug trafficking.
A number of those charged appeared in court today.
Rockhampton police Superintendent DARRYL CAMERON says the operation identified groups
of thieves who were working in league with each other, but no organised crime gangs.
Superintendent Cameron says more operations on a similar scale could be expected in future.
