Fed: Aust should bring N Korea issue to UN council - Rudd
The opposition says Australia must bring the North Korea nuclear issue to the top ofthe United Nations Security Council agenda.
The government has said Australians should be concerned but not unduly alarmed by NorthKorea's nuclear threats.
But opposition foreign affairs spokesman KEVIN RUDD says the prime minister -- who'sin the US for talks with President GEORGE W BUSH and the United Nations -- should insistNorth Korea be considered as a formal security item.
Mr RUDD's told reporters it's time for Australia to take a lead, regionally and globally,to bring the North Korean nuclear question to the top of the Security Council's agenda.
He says Australia is one of a few western countries to have diplomatic relations withNorth Korea, and could drive the global, diplomatic and political strategy on the reclusivecommunist state.
